Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the Word of God is quick and powerful… it is an awesome, powerful Word because it is Jesus!
When the soldiers went out in Paul’s day, they put on their armor, and we have even better armor. We use it because in Ephesians 12 we find out that we are not wrestling against flesh and blood.
We are not wrestling with people, but with the spirits of people.
The writer of Hebrews recognized that the Word of God was even sharper than the best swords of the day. These swords which are two edged, are used for slicing and stabbing, where as other swords with a single edge, are only used for slicing in one direction.
But the Word of God can slice back and forth and pierce, even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit. The Word of God goes in and divides asunder the soul from the spirit with out any problems.
Back in the day, people weren’t as quick to have their loved ones cut open, but the Word of God was ahead of the times!
