Quick and Easy Breakfast: French Toast

Have you ever had a craving for something sweet and salty for breakfast, but not enough time to figure out what that might be?

Well look no further, because I have a recipe for you!

One of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had and one of the easiest to make is your standard, regular degular French toast.

In this recipe I used a thicker white bread that is a Texas Toast style bread, but you can use any other white bread that is soft and even a bit sweet for this (brioche, Italian, etc.).

You can also use a French style baguette if you’d like, just makes sure not to toast it first!

All you really need for this recipe is a couple of slices of bread, an egg, some butter and a heating source. It’s a really simple and customizable recipe that can be shifted and set up for your own specific tastebuds.

I like to pair mine with a breakfast meat like sausage or bacon, but if you’re going for more of a brunch feel you can also pair it with some chicken tenders or even fried chicken😋.

Start out by breaking your yolk and mixing it with the white until it is a smooth consistency (you can add milk or water in this step if you’d prefer) and add in any extras like salt, pepper, or cinnamon.

Next add some butter to a warm skillet and let it melt or brown a bit, but DON’T burn it. (Also feel free to skip this step if you are a pro at non-stick skillets, or sub olive oil in as well!)

Dip your bread into the egg mixture on both sides and transfer into the skillet. Cook on both sides until your desired crispiness.

Repeat with more bread as needed.

Serve with powdered sugar, syrup, honey or jam, top it with fresh strawberries or pair with other breakfast foods as a breakfast sammy upgrade!

Ingredients:

egg

bread

butter

extras (seasonings and toppings)
