If you’ve ever gone to Chick-Fil-A you know that nothing complements the Lord’s Chicken, like the Lord’s Waffle Fries. But sometimes, the Lord wants us to eat our vegetables, so instead of the Lord’s Waffle Fries, I’ll get the Lords Kale Salad.
And believe me, it is heaven sent, fr fr.
But while eating a side of the Lords Kale Salad, might satisfy you temporarily, what happens when you’re at home craving another helping on a Sunday afternoon?
You could wait ’till Monday…
Or you could make your own, with a few upgrades.
I’ve made this dupe a couple of times and let me say, it is 🤌🏼. You can tweak the sauce to your own liking, making it more sweet or more sour depending on your preferences. You can also top it with whatever you want at the end. I didn’t use sliced or crushed almonds, and instead added cranberries, but you can use your favorite nut or even add more vegetables to your dish.
Recipe:
-> salad
2 parts kale, no stems to 1 part white cabbage (or red/purple if you’re feeling it)
almonds as desired (can be sliced, slivered, chopped, whole, baked, roasted, salted etc.)
-> sauce
1/3 cup olive oil
3 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 Tbsp honey
1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
garlic powder, salt, black pepper to taste
Instructions:
Start off washing your veggies and drying them off a bit before chopping the kale and slicing the cabbage into bite sized pieces.
Add the kale greens into a sizeable bowl (appropriate to the amount you’re preparing).
Next mix the sauce and add a small amount to the greens.
Massage these greens with the sauce to begin breaking down the kale into a more satisfying texture. When that’s all set, go ahead and add the cabbage to the greens and mix them together before pouring in the remaining sauce and giving it a stir to coat.
Top with your almonds or cranberries etc.
Now you will be your own judge on this next step:
I like to have it sit in the fridge for a bit (at least a half hour) to let the flavors meld together, but it’s still delicious if you are in a pinch and need to serve it immediately!
Either way, congrats! 🥳You’ve just made a delicious side dish that can last in an air tight container in the fridge for 2-3 days (but I doubt it will last that long!).
